international walk to school day mayhem
international walk to school day is celebrated by millions of kids in 42 countries across the world. here in peterborough we celebrated by having a bit of a walking party at westmount public and st. theresa’s catholic elementary schools. cool captain climate was on hand, as were members of the peterborough petes OHL hockey team. i led a parade around the two schools shared schoolyards with rousing renditions of “when the kids come walking in” and “walking up/walking down.”
when i started playing “start thinking in a brand new way” kids started dancing and singing along. not just the chorus, but the verses. i was confused until one of them piped up, “we’ve listened to that song every day this week on announcements and in class!”
while it wasn’t a small print gig (i was wearing my peterborough green-up hat), i did end up doing a number of interviews for the event, including: wolf/cruz radio, country 105, energy 99.7, bob fm, chex, peterborough examiner, and peterborough this week.
i’ll post the media hits as they come in.
happy walk to school day!
