song of the day: the arcade fire: neighbourhood #1 (tunnels)

small print’s song of the day is back for a new year.

sure, we only got one in before we shut down for our winter internet sabbatical, but…

anyhow, this little ditty rocked my ipod on the way to work this morning and made the -13 temperatures a dream.

the song always gives me the warm fuzzies. i see it is as a coming of age love story. two young lovers building a world apart from the world, out in the snow… but there is also a longing for belonginness. for the embrace of the community that they have almost forgotten.

anyhow, the music swells, the vocals ache. it warms the bones while speaking of life out in the cold.

later this week, we’ll be taking some cracks at newish folk and electronica.

until then…
