getting to know tom jackson
i’ll be shadowing trent university chancellor (and all around great canadian) tom jackson over the next 2 days. working with trent’s communications department, i’ll be covering the following:
“On Tuesday March 22, Dr. Jackson will join Trent University in hosting a series of events to honour the United Nations’ “World Water Day”.
“The focus of the UN Water Day celebrations will be in welcoming representatives of The Netherlands back to the Peterborough region. This will take place during a press conference in the Benedict Gathering Space at Gzowski College at 10 a.m. The Dutch deputy consul-general will be on hand to sign an MOU between the Greater Peterborough Innovation Cluster and the Regional Development Agency East Netherlands (Oost NV). This will be followed by a tour of the Trent University Water Quality Centre.
“In the afternoon on Tuesday, March 22, Dr. Jackson will give a welcome address and introduce the panel discussion for Political Studies Research Day 2011: Canada, Global Warming, and the Political Economy of Fossil Fuel Dependence in the Benedict Gathering Space from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.”
if that weren’t enough, i hope to shoot a bit of pool with the baritone singing activist:
“Lady Eaton College at Trent University presents the Tom Jackson Celebrity Pool Tournament for Kids Help Phone on Wednesday, March 23 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Junior Common Room at Lady Eaton College and in the Celie Pub at Champlain College.
“Celebrities playing in the tournament against students, faculty and staff include: Trent chancellor Dr. Tom Jackson, president and vice-chancellor Dr. Steven E. Franklin, Board of Governors chair Mr. David Morton and Peterborough City counsellor Mr. Dean Pappas. Trent’s founding president Professor Tom Symons will be in attendance at the event.”
