Dani’s Bandwagon: Independant YouTube Show Captures Canadian Road Rock
The best kept musical secret in Canada? It has to be Dani’s Bandwagon.
The premise? Take some Canadian musicians, toss them in the back seat of a car, and drive them around while they jam. Simple acoustic music.
The first season featured a number of highlights by up and coming artists, including spots by The Strumbellas and Wayne Petti of Cuff the Duke. This season, host Dani Stover, videographer/editor Michael Hurcombe, and producer Ryan Lalonde, have hit their stride, attracting several established Canadian stars. Dan Griffin has won a Juno Award with his band, the Arkells, Royal Wood has one Juno nomination under his belt, and will likely be an annual contender for years to come, and Chris Murphy/Jay Ferguson of Sloan are assuredly CanRock champions at this point in their careers.
Take the time to go through the videos on the Dani’s Bandwagon channel. Each episode features intimate and unplugged takes on some of the best music being made today. Enjoy and share. I have a feeling things are only going to get better from here.
